A sustainable energy transition is essential to  secure a sustainable energy future. As a clean, versatile energy carrier, green hydrogen plays a crucial role in the decarbonization process and shaping the future of sustainable energy. In this context, the efficiency and wide commercialization of green hydrogen production via water electrolysis, in particular using AEMWE, rely on various factors. In this episode, we provide an overview of how electrolyte quality and presence of impurities can influence the underlying processes (especially on catalysts and electrodes) and overall performance of the electrolyzer, which is crucial for optimizing green hydrogen production and reducing its costs. We will shed the light on a couple of challenges and opportunities in the AEMWE technology.
